‘Growing Your Own Hanging Garden’ with Carefree Greenery Ltd.

IMG_1843Thursday, July 16 – A BIG thanks to Don Mitchell and Merrilee York of Carefree Greenery Ltd. for demonstrating how to construct a hanging garden using a plastic bag, and fertilizer, along with tomato and marigold plants. The ‘Growing Your Own Food Bank’ Community Gardening Club workshop demonstrated to its 20 participants that an accessible garden can be conveniently grown in your own kitchen, living room, or balcony, etc.  Participants continue to learn healthy and affordable ways to produce their own food each week.  Call 604-872-7676 or email communitygarden@salvationarmyvcfs.com for registration details!

Volunteer Opportunities for Web & Graphic Design, and Digital Marketing Students and Alumni

volunteer-11Currently, we are seeking volunteers to aid us in the enhancement of our website www.salvationarmyvcfs.com and the development of strategies and digital marketing tools pertaining to seasonal programs, such as our Christmas Kettle Campaign.  We are looking for students and alumni eager to provide insight and gain valuable hands-on experience by using their skills and learning to help restore hope and dignity to vulnerable and marginalized people.

2015 Volunteer Appreciation Party

The 2015 Volunteer Appreciation Party held on Wednesday, May 20 at 11:30AM gave us an opportunity to celebrate the volunteers who serve selflessly on our front lines.  Thank you for helping The Salvation Army Vancouver Community & Family Services give hope to others!  Also, a SPECIAL thank-you to Val Lynn for preparing such delicious salads!
