JOB PURPOSE:
To ensure daily setup and collection of Kettles in designated zone along with site supervision.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provide safe, secure and timely transfer of Kettles, supplies and money to and from assigned locations
• Communicate with and provide supervision, instruction and guidance to Kettle hosts; report any and all incidents, recommendations, concerns, and trends to Kettle Coordinator
• Liaise with retail/security personnel regarding Kettle exchange, storage, shift changes, personnel changes, host breaks, host belongings, etc.
• Aid hosts in the retrieval and/or set up designated Christmas Kettle from storage locations
• Troubleshoot and debrief with Kettle Coordinator at the beginning and throughout duration of each shift
• Manage inventory and replenish Kettle supplies when low; provide maintenance to Kettles and supplies
• Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Be punctual, reliable and community minded
• Positively portrays The Salvation Army and reflect its mission and core values
• Possesses good customer service skills – be friendly, courteous, positive, outgoing, flexible, task oriented, and patient
• Be able to work independently
• Ability to focus on job and refrain from distractions, i.e. mobile phone use when driving
• Possesses good oral and written communication skills
• Ability to lift and move objects up to 25 lbs.
• Follows the dress code and be well groomed
• Possesses and wear proper outdoor attire in inclement weather
• Ability to calculate basic mathematical equations and problem-solve
• Possesses and access to mobile phone and email
• Possesses a valid BC Driver’s License and access to the use of a vehicle
• Ability to attend orientation session and agrees to Standards of Conduct
• Previous fundraising experience, supervision, delivery, and volunteer experience an asset
• Agrees to undergo a Criminal Records Check
• Minimum high school education or equivalency an asset

HOURS: Max. 35 hours per week; split shift and flexible hours may be required

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT:
• Temporary part time; 6-week commitment ( Monday – Saturday, No Sundays)
• Duration: November 12, 2015 to December 24, 2015

JOB PURPOSE:
To collect donations from holiday shoppers by spreading Christmas cheer and promoting The
Salvation Army.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Arrive at assigned location on time, retrieve and set up designated Christmas Kettle from storage location; remain with Christmas Kettle until shift change or Kettle is picked up by personnel
• Stand near Christmas Kettle for the entire duration of shift; greet, smile and collect donations from passers-by; thank donors
• Ensure Christmas Kettle is attended or stored away during restroom and meal breaks per instruction given; to ensure security of Christmas Kettle and monetary donations
• Follow instructions of Supervisor and Coordinator; report any problems or concerns to Supervisor or Coordinator
• Distribute swag, i.e. blessing cards, etc.
• Promote Salvation Army programs & services, volunteering, when opportunities arise
• Respond to donor questions or make appropriate referral
• Collect donor’s information when a request is made for a charitable tax receipt
• Manage inventory and request supplies when necessary
• Perform other duties as assigned

• Possesses and can ensure access to mobile phone, email, transportation.
• Ability to attend orientation session and agrees of Standard of Conduct
• Previous fundraising experience, customer service, and volunteer experience an asset
• Agrees to undergo a Criminal Records Check
• Minimum high school education or equivalency an asset

HOURS: Max. 35 hours per week; Varies within 10 AM to 7 PM

Happy Retirement to Majors Russ and Judy Holland

20150928_132743We are most grateful to Russ and Judy for their consistent and caring leadership, grounded in faith and strong commitment to their calling to Officership and the Army.  They will be missed in their current roles and in reflection upon 26 years of effective and impactful leadership, applied with love and zeal.  We wish them well as they transition and continue to serve the Lord in other ways in the future.

Promoted to Glory – Major Brad Smith

0A Celebration of Life will be held for Major Brad Smith who was suddenly called home to be with the Lord on October 5, 2014 at the age of 60.  Major Brad served The Salvation Army faithfully for 36 years and will be greatly missed.  Major Brad will be remembered by his devoted wife and partner Major Mary Smith; three children, Andrew, Sarah, and Michael; grandchildren Madison, Noah and Owen; many family and friends.  Service will be held Friday, October 10, 2014 at 2 p.m., preceded by viewing at 1 p.m. at the Richmond Salvation Army, 8280 Gilbert St, Richmond (604-277-2424).  Visit The Vancouver Sun for more information.
