Help Change a Life – Send a Child to School Fully Equipped with Supplies for a Year of Learning!

Back to school poster (1)

It is time again for the 2016 Backpack and School Supply Drive here at The Salvation Army Vancouver Community and Family Services, in partnership with Staples and The Canadian Bible Society. For years we have been supplying backpacks filled with essentials school supplies including: binders, pens, coloured markers, paper, and more. We began with a goal of reaching 200 children in our community and now regularly give away over 1,000 backpacks to children throughout British Columbia.

Our Goal:

Is to provide 2,000 children with new backpacks stuffed with school supplies and that glorious feeling of entering the first day fully equipped! I am sure you remember it well… arriving on the first day of a new school year, prepared with your new backpack and supplies, ready for any challenges that might arise. However, for many families this is increasingly difficult as financial pressures and other necessities take priority over school supplies. We want to ensure that every child is well prepared to thrive during the 2016-2017 school year and able to achieve their fullest potential.

How can you help?

We cannot do this without the help of a community of people coming together to support this project. As such, from now until August we will be accepting donations at:

3213 Fraser Street Vancouver B.C V5V 4B8
Donations can be given in the following forms: a monetary contribution which will go directly towards the purchase of backpacks or supplies, a backpack filled with the items listed below, empty backpacks, or any of the items below.

Coloured Markers
Glue Stick
Blue, Black and Red Pens
Pencil Case
Pencil Crayons
Pencil Sharpener

We are excited by the potential of reaching our goal with your help and are deeply thankful for any contribution you can make. When you drop off donations please make sure you provide us with you name and contact info so we can thank you and inform you of the final results.
